CP distributed to Members the Key Stage 3: Year 9 Religious Education Levels for 2009 and 2010.

  • Inspection findings in Religious Education: Summer 2010 – Spring 2011

Minutes:

CP distributed to members an overview of the main findings on relation to spiritual development and collective worship found in the Estyn inspections reports for Summer 2010 and Spring 2011

 

CP led members through the inspection reports

  • Lack of comment in the inspection reports in relation to spiritual development

 

It was noted that the SACRE monitoring of RE and Collective Worship template is yet to be agreed and therefore this will be deferred to the next meeting for further discussion.

Religious Education: Guidance for Key Stage 2 and 3 (DCELLS / WAG) pdf icon PDF 55 KB

Minutes:

CP led the Committee through the report that outlined the content of the guidance and the learner profiles that can be found on the CD ROM

Celebrating RE: Overview of events - March 2011

Minutes:

CP explained to the committee that the launch of the Celebrating RE festival for the Central South Consortia was held at ESIS on March 10th and that Merthyr Tydfil was well represented by local school children.

 

A legacy Album has been published online for viewing.

WASACRE

  • Feedback from WASACRE meeting on March 2nd at the Vale of Glamorgan
  • Representation at next WASACRE meeting on June 21st 2011 at Anglesey
  • Executive voting for the period 2011-2013

Minutes:

CP gave a brief overview on the Meeting and the Wales launch of the Celebrating RE festival that was held at the Vale of Glamorgan on March 2nd.

 

The Archbishop of Wales transcript was available online.

 

No executive for the WASACRE executives committee will be taking place as there are only 2 vacancies and only 2 candidates standing.

CP led the committee through the courses that are currently available

Minutes:

CP updated members stating that there was currently only one school representing Merthyr Tydfil (Penydre High School) and they started the REsilience programme in June.

Community Safety Partnership Grants

Minutes:

The Chair stated that currently the bids are still with the Community Safety Partnership Group and that he would discuss this with Bev Owen and he will update the committee via Democratic Services as soon as the information becomes available.
