Matters Arising

Minutes:

In relation to minute number 545 ‘People Beliefs and Questions’, Carys Pritchard advised members that this document has been removed from the Welsh Government website and she is awaiting a response on the reason why.

Religious Studies Examination Results 2013 pdf icon PDF 59 KB

Minutes:

Carys Pritchard advised members of the examination results for GCSE, GCSE Short Course and A levels.   

 

Discussion ensued in relation to the successful A level results which are now above the all Wales average, and it was RESOLVED that a letter be sent to the 3 schools congratulating them.

SACRE Monitoring of Secondary Schools: Self Evaluation Findings in Religious Education pdf icon PDF 58 KB

Minutes:

Carys Pritchard gave an overview of the three responses received in relation to the request to secondary schools to share their self evaluation of religious education, and outlined the good factors and also areas for development.

 

RESOLVED that:

 

Copies of the self evaluation reports be sent to the Head of Departments of the three secondary schools.

Estyn Overview of Inspection Reports: Autumn 2012 to Summer 2013 pdf icon PDF 38 KB

Minutes:

Carys Pritchard outlined the information available in relation to the school inspection reports for Trelewis, Bedlinog and Ynysowen for the period autumn 2012 to summer 2013.  

 

RESOLVED that:

 

The reports be received.

Update on National Curriculum Review and Assessment pdf icon PDF 54 KB

Minutes:

Carys gave an update on Phase 1 of the review of assessment and the National Curriculum in Wales, but advised that no information has been received on Phase 2.  

 

RESOLVED that:

 

The report be noted and any future implications for the Merthyr Tydfil agreed syllabus be considered at the appropriate time.

9.

Religious Education Quality Mark (REQM) pdf icon PDF 44 KB

Minutes:

Carys Pritchard advised members of the availability of the Religious Education Quality Mark which celebrates high quality religious education in primary, secondary and special schools and outlined the process for schools that would be interested in applying.

 

RESOLVED that:

 

 A letter be sent to all schools informing them of the availability of the Religious Education Quality Mark.
