Membership

To receive a verbal update (Local Authority)

a - Constitution Update

b - Membership Update - Humanist Representative

Minutes:

A Lewis updated the Committee on the Local Authority’s position with regard to a request from Humanism UK for a member to join the group.

He advised following a change in the Law, the Constitution would need to be amended to reflect that those who represent non-religious philosophical convictions be added to the Group A Membership, that this be formally noted within these minutes and that it is recorded in the next annual report in the Autumn, but noted that the membership can be altered with immediate effect and an invitation be extended to Humanism UK.  A Lewis advised an individual had been identified and invited, but unfortunately was not available to attend today’s meeting.

A Lewis introduced Andrea May, Head of Achievement and Wellbeing, who has joined the meeting today as an observer, and who will be his replacement as the Local Authority representative from the next meeting.  The Chair welcomed Andrea to the Committee.
