Members are reminded of their personal responsibility to declare any personal and prejudicial interest in respect of matters contained in this agenda in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government and Finance Act 1992 relating to Council Tax, the Local Government Act 2000, the Council’s Constitution and the Members Code of Conduct
(a) Members are reminded that they must identify the item number and subject matter that their interest relates to and signify the nature of the personal interest and
(b) Where Members withdraw from a Meeting as a consequence of the disclosure of a prejudicial interest they must notify the Chair when they leave

To consider the attached report
The Chair welcomed Mr Alun Michael Police and Crime Commissioner and his Team together with Gill Lewis, Independent Member on the Interview Panel to the Meeting.
Simon Jones referred the Panel to the procedures of the meeting.
The Chair referred the Panel to the report and the Guidance Note in relation to the Confirmation Hearing for the Proposed Appointment of the Chief Constable for South Wales Police.
The Commissioner, his Team and G Lewis then outlined to the Panel the process that had been undertaken in relation to the recommended appointment.
Mr Jeremy Vaughan, Deputy Chief Constable then addressed the Panel and responded in detail to the questions raised by the Panel.
The Commissioner and his Team together with Gill Lewis left the Meeting in order for the Panel to consider the recommended appointment.
After consideration by the Panel on the Appointment of the Chief Constable; all parties then re-entered the Meeting and the Chair advised Mr Vaughan that the decision to appoint him as Chief Constable was unanimous. The Chair extended his and the Panel’s congratulations to Mr Vaughan and commended the Commissioner and his Team on the detailed interview process undertaken and the report that had been provided.
Mr Jeremy Vaughan be confirmed as the Chief Constable for South Wales Police with a start date of Monday, 9th November 2020.
Further Resolved that:
Simon Jones write to the Police and Crime Commissioner confirming the appointment of Mr Vaughan.
Any other business deemed urgent by the Chair
